Helping Our Pain and Exhaustion, Inc. (H.O.P.E.), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to develop and implement programs dedicated to improving the quality of life, for people with fibromyalgia. And to enhance knowledge and awareness of Fibromyalgia and chronic pain. This is accomplished through educational programs in order to educate patients, health care communities, the public at large, policy makers and the media.
Education is key to a greater understanding, acceptance and successful management, so that these individuals may live more fully, in spite of their pain.
H.O.P.E accomplishes its mission through four major program areas:
Education
H.O.P.E. conducts lectures, round-table discussions, and upcoming classes to educate both patients and physicians.
Patient Support
H.O.P.E provides ongoing patient support groups, one-on-one support services through phone calls and a variety of free or low-cost resources for uninsured patients.
Advocacy & Awareness
H.O.P.E.'s director participates in legislative lobbying to raise awareness and education of Fibromyalgia. H.O.P.E.'s director successfully obtained a proclamation recognizing Fibromyalgia Awareness Day in Michigan. And among other affiliations, serves on the Advisory Committee on Pain and Symptom Management (ACPSM), in Lansing, MI, and as a subcommittee member on the state of Michigan's health awareness website. She is also a Michigan Leader for the American Pain Foundation, Power Over Pain, Action Leader.
